Big Island police have determined a woman falsely reported being sexually assaulted Tuesday at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
“The investigation revealed that the incident did not occur, and the case has been closed as being unfounded,” the Hawaii County Police Department said in a prepared statement. “A false report investigation has been initiated.”
The woman reported to police on Tuesday that she was attacked in a UH-Hilo bathroom but was able to fight off the man, according to police.
